CAMP AL TAQADDUM IS ON LINE!!
Submitted by [jstedham] James Stedham on 2007/10/10 - 11:44 pm
Soldiers at Camp Al Taqaddum make first phone calls at Broadwave call center!
At approximately 1:00 pm EST, on October 10th, 2007, Camp Al Taqaddum officially came on line! What we hope to be the first of many bases in the Middle East, Camp Al Taqaddum, the Marine air base west of Baghdad, was brought on line today with the assistance of SPC Jeff Sosack. Jeff has put in countless hours helping Broadwave with this project and we could not have done it without him!

We would like to thank the entire team of soldiers that made this possible:
1st Lieutenant Richard Telesco
Specialist Jeffery Sosack
Specialist Jason Harrison
Private First Class Ryan McCauley
Sergeant First Class Warren Woodards
As soon as we were able to verify the signal strength was strong enough to transmit and receive, the first phone call was made by Jeff to Chris Cook, the Director of The Cook Project and the Director of Broadwave Corporation. "I knew that it would be a thrilling moment, I had no idea that it would have the impact on me that it did when I first heard Jeff's voice on our system!" stated Chris. After Jeff's call to Chris, Chris called the toll free number set up to dial in to the base and Jeff answered. "Just when I didn't think that it couldn't get any better, Jeff answered the phone there in Iraq and I was on cloud 9 all over again!"
After several tests were run, the all clear was given to start utilizing the communications center. Jeff and a number of other soldiers were in the center and the phone calls began to come stateside. Additionally, some broke out their laptops and began logging on to the Internet. It was approx. 11:00pm their time when we finally saw the last man out of the center. We eagerly look forward to their early morning hours, our late night hours, when the word spreads that the center is operational.
We hope that the soldiers there enjoy using this center and we hope that the families they call back home enjoy hearing from those who are serving their country overseas. Broadwave is proud to help those that sacrifice so much to serve and protect our great country. We are grateful to have this opportunity and look forward to bringing other bases on line in the very near future.
